Our nation is rapidly approaching a point where drastic action will be necessary to stop our downward spiral and prevent the abrogation of our precious freedoms. While every sane person fervently hopes that the Republic can be saved without resorting to violence, that seems less likely with each provocation perpetuated by the statists. We are nearing a point where the choice will be not between war or peace, but between war or subjugation. As horrific as war is, when compared to life in the dystopia the political left envisions, it is the lesser of two evils.
If it does reach the point where we must take up arms to defend our Constitution and our liberties, one of the obstacles we will likely have to face will be fellow conservatives who fail to realize that fact. This should not surprise anyone; it is human nature to enter a state of denial when faced with a grim situation. There will be those who will continue to cling to the notion that things aren’t really that bad, that we can resolve the situation peacefully and by following the normal process: the ballot box or the jury box. They will refuse to accept that the normal process is now anything but normal, that those boxes have been closed and nailed shut by those desperate to cling to power, and that the only box left to us is the cartridge box.
This type of blind and naïve denial was exemplified by Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain of the British Conservative Party, and history informs us how this worked out for the world.
One of the great military axioms is that a war is most easily won before the enemy even realizes he’s in a state of war. Anyone who has been paying attention to the rhetoric coming from the far left knows that our Marxist foes are actively preparing for war, a war that they imagine will crush all resistance to their plan for an all-powerful socialist state that discards our Constitution and its protection of individual rights. They are counting on us to remain in denial until their victory is assured. I’m sure that the left will encourage this with placatory messaging, exercising Trumbull diplomacy: the art of saying “nice doggie” while reaching for a rock. By the time we wake up and realize that we are at war, they will have already won. Or at least that is their hope. In this, they will be aided by timid and conciliatory conservatives.
Those who are in denial will attempt to dissuade their fellow conservatives from what they will see as deplorable acts of violence. They will present the tired old arguments that “violence never solves anything” (easily disproved by reading history) and “if we sink to their level we are no better than they are”. They will see themselves as the voices of reason, as statesmen, as peacemakers. They will quote scripture: “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” They will renounce those who take up arms, and will serve the political left as useful idiots.
If the time comes to take up arms, we will find ourselves besieged not only by the Marxist enemy but also by our misguided conservative allies. We need to be aware of this, and to prepare for it.
