All too many of the other great tragedies of history - Stalin's atrocities, the killing fields of Cambodia, the Holocaust, to name but a few - were perpetrated by armed troops against unarmed populations. Many could well have been avoided mitigated, had the perpetrators known their intended victims were equipped with a rifle and twenty bullets apiece... If a few hundred Jewish fighter in the Warsaw Ghetto could hold off the Wehrmacht for almost a month with only a handful weapons, six million Jews armed with rifles could not so easily have been herded into cattle cars.

Some notes on Red Flag Laws

Dr. John Lott was involved in a hearing that dealt with Red Flag/Extreme Risk Protection Orders. Thirteen states currently have passed these laws. The audio here has just Dr. Lott’s discussion, the others in the discussion were speaking on the condition of anonymity, we edited the audio only to allow you to hear Lott’s comments. There was a lively discussion in between Lott’s points, but they have been cut out so Dr. Lott’s comments will likely appear disjointed. The entire meeting lasted two hours, and Lott’s full comments lasted for just under nine minutes. Don’t worry, but, in the meeting, Lott did not talk for nine minutes straight.

Red Flag laws are the equivalent of the movie Minority Report, where the government tries to predict whether a person will commit a crime. These laws don’t even mention mental illness, so their focus is actually on the non-mentally ill.
