It’s so easy to proclaim, “There is a mental health crisis in America, leading students to shoot up public schools. Something has got to be done about it.”
It’s a lot harder to defend the idea that government should be involved in the mental health of its citizens.
Because to get government responsible for the mental health of its citizens, the government must first decide what “mental health” is according to a legally enforceable and one-size-fits-all standard.
