The Bastille Day truck attack in Nice, France, 2016 killed 86 people and injured 434. By all accounts, it was far deadlier than the recent Las Vegas shooting, which killed 58 and injured 515.
The people calling for gun control after the Las Vegas shooting did not call for a banning of trucks, or stricter vehicle control, after the Bastille Day attack.
But they’ll claim that since the Vegas shooting was so deadly, we need to ban certain types of weapons in the US. Because think of the children. Because they CARE SO FUCKING HARD about the victims.
But, they say, trucks shouldn’t have been banned after the Bastille Day attack, because despite the death toll, despite the hundreds of casualties, trucks are useful for other things besides killing people.
So, they don’t actually care that much about the victims at all. They don’t care about people’s safety at all. To them, 86 dead and 434 wounded are justifiable, so long as the tool used to kill and wound those people has a function other than killing people.
So instead of banning guns, why not just let me add a fucking cupholder to my rifles? That way, you’ll be totes fine with them, since they serve another function.
The message of this post, for those of you too dense, too emotional, and too ignorant of guns and gun laws to get it, is that just because I’m not reactionary enough to pass ineffective, stupid, and unconstitutional laws during a period of high-emotion and chaos does not mean I don’t care about the loss of life brought about by the act of an evil individual.
Fuck you for implying or explicitly claiming I don’t. Two can play at that game.
