From a Friend on Kangaroos and Freedom: I have a hard time arguing the gun issue on paper because I refuse to use stats or argue the self-defense end of it … I consider both arguments irrelevant to the issue and if anything devalues our side of the argument … it’s not about self-defense, hunting or crime stats … it’s about personal freedom.
The argument shouldn’t need to go past that point.
My parents gave up everything they had, their home, their friends, their family so I wouldn’t be born in a communist dictatorship… I drew my first breath in this country as a free man and I intend to draw my last as a free man… traditionally, free individuals have the right to bear arms, not just under the US constitution but historically though out the course of world history.
Look at every political system or monarchy that has been stratified into the elite and the unwashed masses… the elite could bear arms, the masses couldn’t.
People forget that we’re the longest running revolutionary government in history… we fought a revolution in order to guarantee certain rights to individuals…. people gave their lives so we wouldn’t have to bow before the elite
But we’ve been so watered down that we’ve lost the spirit of what this country was based on.
We’ve become sheep.
We’re like baby kangaroos …
A baby kangaroo is safe in its mother’s pouch, it’s fed, it’s warm and it’s safe… but it’s not free.
If it leaves the pouch, it’s free… it might get eaten m, but it’s free.
As a country, we’ve decided that being in the pouch is more favorable than being free.
