“Governor Ralph Northam signed House Bill 264 and Senate Bill 263 into law, amending prior legislation by removing the online training option for people who want to get this type of permit.”
RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) — There are changes on the way for people who want to apply for a permit to carry a concealed handgun in Virginia.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2021, Virginians who apply for a concealed carry permit in the Commonwealth will have to go to an in-person training to get it.
Governor Ralph Northam signed House Bill 264 and Senate Bill 263 into law, amending prior legislation by removing the online training option for people who want to get this type of permit.
Marko Galbreath owns T4Tactics, an active shooter awareness and response training facility off Timberlake Road in Lynchburg. He also teaches firearm safety training courses for concealed permits. Galbreath said that people who want a permit will now have to register at facilities like his to take a class on handgun practices and procedures before they get a certificate.
