There is one deeply foolish quote by Morton Klein in this article: the idea that Islamic terrorism can be eliminated by reforming education in the Arab Islamic world because they “teach hatred and violence.” Hatred, violence, and the killing of Jews and all infidels are not an educational glitch. They are embedded in the religion itself. Suggesting otherwise reflects a troubling and dangerous ignorance of Islam. That ignorance, however, does not negate the article’s central point: what must be controlled is the admission of adherents of Islam into our countries, Not guns.
I’m biased as hell against gun control, and I make no apologies for it.
But when someone else who doesn’t live and work within the Second Amendment circles says the problems down under aren’t gun control, I’m going to call some attention to that fact because, well, it’s different.
And in this case, a leader of a Jewish organization–you know, the people targeted in the attack–is the one talking sense.
