This landmark victory marks a powerful stand against federal overreach and a resounding affirmation of the Second Amendment. By forcing the ATF and DOJ to back down, gun rights advocates have proven that legal action can roll back unconstitutional regulations. This outcome not only restores the rights of law-abiding gun owners but sets a strong precedent in the ongoing fight to defend our freedoms. It’s a huge win for liberty and a clear message: we will not back down.
Weatherford, TX — In a massive legal win for gun owners nationwide, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has formally agreed to drop all litigation and enforcement actions related to the controversial Forced Reset Trigger (FRT) ban — a move that not only vindicates Rare Breed Triggers and its president Lawrence DeMonico, but marks a powerful win for Texas Gun Rights (TXGR) and its national affiliate, the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR).
The victory came in the form of a federal settlement agreement in NAGR v. Bondi, a high-stakes lawsuit filed in 2023 after the Biden ATF unilaterally reclassified certain FRTs as “machineguns,” criminalizing possession and transfer by law-abiding citizens.
TXGR, under the leadership of President Chris McNutt, joined the case to protect its members from federal overreach, ensuring Texans could continue exercising their Second Amendment rights without fear of jail time for owning a lawfully purchased trigger device.
