‘People don’t go to mental health professionals and say, “I want to shoot at people randomly. I have a very specific plan. Please help me stop myself.”’
Why do people insist on thinking that the increased availability of counseling will significantly lower the likelihood of a person considering mass homicide from doing so?
Ask any counselor. People don’t go to mental health professionals and say, “I want to shoot at people randomly. I have a very specific plan. Please help me stop myself.”
These people who shoot up schools almost always have plenty of access to counseling or churches or even family or friends who would certainly drop what they’re doing to help ensure that the killer not embark on his or her killing spree.
