ROCKFORD — The Hononegah School District Board of Education has agreed to pay a former student $35,000 to settle federal allegations that her civil rights were violated at an anti-gun violence school walkout.
The agreement was made June 16, 2021.
Madison Oster, then 16, and a junior at Hononegah, and her father Jeremy Oster filed the federal lawsuit in 2018 in the U.S. District Court in Rockford. They sued the school district and several administrators with claims that Madison’s civil rights were violated earlier that year because of Madison’s support for gun rights.
