A well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state; the right of the people to keep and bear arms Shall not be infringed
It must be great to live in a world where no crimes are committed. I mean, after all, nobody gets murdered anymore because – hey – murder is illegal.
Nobody ever gets killed by drunk drivers on our roads because – hey – drunk driving is illegal.
Nobody’s home is ever invaded, nor is anyone ever robbed because – hey – breaking and entering and stealing are all illegal. There are many other examples I could use of tragedies, wrongs that plague society, all of which suddenly stop occurring because they have been outlawed by a piece of paper.
Wait, those things still occur? But committing those crimes is illegal, and legislative bodies have said as much, why do they keep happening?
Because criminals do not care about laws and it is a folly of mankind to believe that further restricting the freedom of law-abiding citizens will result in the eradication of wrongdoing.
