What people fail to comprehend when sharing these stories of the courage of the partisans is that had the Jews been armed and not disarmed by the Nazis, they would not have been herded into ghettos in the first place. Secondly, the obvious point they seem to consistently ignore related to my first point is that the most important thing to the partisans was guns and ammunition. That is the goal of all the “gun control” “gun safety” efforts.

When Abe Asner escaped from the ghetto into the nearby forest, with his brothers, the Germans placed a bounty on their heads. “So much money to catch us, dead or alive,” Abe recalls.

Asner (z”l), born 102 years ago this week, and his brothers, became armed resistance fighters successfully conducting many missions. They sabotaged enemy supply lines, halted German food convoys, and rescued Jews from ghettos.

Abe’s passion burned brightly when he recalled his partisan days. “We don’t go like sheep. We did as much as we could. We did a lot,” he said. “People should know somebody did (fight back). People should know.”
