Rapper Kanye West received praise from the National Rifle Association for articulating his position on the Second Amendment when he met with President Trump at the White House on Thursday.
“#Kanye couldn’t have said it better: Illegal guns are the problem, and we have the right to bear arms,” the NRA tweeted. “The #NRA’s nearly six million members are glad to see a celebrity who gets it, and who is willing to stand with the #2A.”
West, who was wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, was asked by a reporter in the Oval Office about gun violence and the “debate about the Second Amendment.”
“The problem is illegal guns. Illegal guns is the problem,” West said in response. “Not legal guns. We have the right to bear arms.”
