The last time I attended a holiday at a synagogue, the new rabbi (fresh from New York City) asked why I had a 1911 on my hip.
“Because it’s my dress gun and I am wearing it out of respect for the occasion.”
At that point, several of the men present shifted their jackets to show that they were also carrying.
“I go armed in part to defend my hosts, if need be.”
The same applies to my visits to Christian churches, just no one has ever asked why I carry.
