Barry Bahrami:
“This is a demonstration how “The Great Equalizer” in the hands of law abiding citizens will save lives. It was only three years ago that Illinois began allowing law abiding citizens to carry concealed firearms, and that was only after a legal battle resulted in a federal court order that forced legislators to craft a law allowing the practice.
“Opponents of course claimed there would be blood on the streets if law abiding citizens were allowed to carry to protect themselves. They failed to realize that there was already blood on the streets specifically because law abiding citizens *could not* carry to protect themselves and their children. I bet this lady and her family are glad she had this important tool available to protect herself.
“From what I understand there is an increasing number of women getting their carry permits in Illinois so they can protect themselves and their chldren. I am so happy for them.”
MOLINE, Ill. – An Illinois woman with a concealed carry firearm was able to defend herself after a man armed with a knife forced himself into her car, police say.
A man armed with a knife forced his way into a woman’s car near SouthPark Mall on Sunday, according to a statement from Detective Michael Griffin with the Moline Police Department.
During a struggle, the woman’s arm was cut. The armed man then forced her to drive him to a rural area of Rock Island County.
