I’m in complete agreement with Bob J. Taylor’s recent letter (“Gun-violence epidemic a myth,” June 8). Taylor is absolutely correct in stating criminals are, in fact, criminals because they do not obey the laws. They couldn’t care less about more gun-control laws.
As a law-abiding citizen and a gun owner, I have no problem with the current law requiring mandatory background checks for gun purchases. What I do have a problem with is gun-control advocates calling for more “common sense” gun control — when, in fact, what they’re calling for is more “feel good” gun-control laws, which do nothing to prevent criminals from using firearms to carry out their violent acts.
Just ask the citizens of Washington, D.C., or Chicago how their “feel good” gun control laws are working for them.
