Today, April 4, the Assembly Public Safety Committee failed to pass Assembly Bill 757, also known as the “shall-issue” bill, by a party-line vote. The NRA would like to thank Assembly Member Melissa Melendez (R-67) for sponsoring this important legislation that would have addressed the inequitable nature of California’s current concealed carry law by ensuring a fair and consistent application throughout the Golden State. Your NRA-ILA is committed to continue to work on improving California concealed carry laws in the legislature, the courts and through congress.
The Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee unanimously passed, Assembly Bill 521 sponsored by Jim Frazier (D-11). AB 521 would reduce California’s high-priced resident elk permit from $450 to $67, the average cost of resident elk tags issued in Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming. This bill now will move on to the appropriations committee.
The Legislature will start Spring Recess this Thursday, April 6 upon adjournment of the day’s session and will return Monday, April 17.
