A black-and-white photograph has been making the rounds on the Internet since it was posted by one Victor Velasco on March 21. It has more than 900 shares as of writing.
The press photo taken in 1971 shows the all-female security crew of Banco Filipino‘s all-woman branch along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao. “The staff of 27 are all female all under the age of 26. All are trained in judo and karate and all know how to shoot straight. The armed guards clearly create confidence among the customers, for the Cubao branch is the biggest savings [bank] in the Philippines. About 1,200 men pop in a day to stow away some pesos,” the caption says.
