This Tuesday, January 10th, the California state Assembly is scheduled to begin its confirmation hearing on Governor Jerry Brown’s nominee to replace Kamala Harris as Attorney General. Governor Brown’s nominee, Congressman Xavier Becerra, will be responsible for leading the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and serving as California’s top law enforcement official and attorney. In this capacity, Congressman Becerra, will be overseeing over 4,500 employees, ranging from attorneys to peace officers.
If confirmed, Congressman Becerra will also oversee The Bureau of Firearms, which operates as a part of the DOJ and is the main authority over items that have to do with firearms in California.
In his capacity as a Congressman, Becerra has shown that he is no friend of the Second Amendment. He is also not interested in protecting the rights of hunters and sportsmen. In fact, Congressman Becerra has consistently voted against NRA supported bills.
