Handgun Cleaning and Maintenance Class

Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced shooter, you’ll benefit from learning to clean and maintain your weapon. Our gun instructors will teach you how to clean your gun safely and efficiently so that it works when you need it most. Regularly cleaning your firearm will increase its life and prevent dangerous malfunctions.
Why Gun Maintenance is Important
Proper maintenance of your firearm is critical to ensuring that it works properly when you need it most. When you don’t clean and maintain your weapon, you’ll face a number of problems, some of them dangerous. Without regular weapon cleaning and maintenance, your gun could backfire, a potentially fatal event. Failure to feed ammunition, jamming and the failure to fire are just a few of the symptoms of a gun that is in need of maintenance.
Residue, rust and corrosion can ruin your gun. During our weapon cleaning class, you’ll learn to safely disassemble your gun, clean it, inspect it, lubricate it and reassemble it. Our certified instructors will help you discover the best cleaning methods, and which chemicals, lubricants and tools are best for the type of gun you are cleaning. We’ll also help you understand when your gun parts should be replaced for the optimal maintenance of your weapon.
The more often you fire your gun, the more often it will need to be maintained. It makes sense for serious shooters to take our gun cleaning class. When your gun is clean and well maintained, it will perform at its best when you need it most. Our gun cleaning class is an essential component to our comprehensive firearms training courses.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED:
SAFETY FIRST. How to properly “field strip” your semi auto pistol, clean it, inspect it, lubricate it and put it back together. We’ll also cover revolvers and what to do to keep them running. We will be able to show how to clean most common handguns.
Don’t wear your best clothes; we are going to take dirty guns apart! The class is scheduled for 2 hours but may go a little longer based on the needs of the students.
Bring your own gun. If you don’t have one, we will have one for you to learn on.
(No ammunition is allowed in the classroom. If you bring your own gun, it will be checked to insure that it is unloaded.)
All materials will be provided.

The “Firearms Safety Certificate” is required in order to purchase a gun. For those who are interested, we have arranged for the test to be administered at the end of this class. There is a $25 mandatory administrative charge.
