Second Amendment: What President Obama really said Thursday in promoting his executive action on gun control was, “I don’t want to take away your Second Amendment rights. . .. I just want to take away your guns.”
Obama has alluded to this “solution” before, using Australia and England as examples of the path America should follow.
In June 2014, he said, a “couple of decades ago, Australia had a mass shooting, similar to Columbine or Newtown. And Australia just said, well, that’s it, we’re not doing, we’re not seeing that again, and basically imposed very severe, tough gun laws, and they haven’t had a mass shooting since. Our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There’s no advanced, developed country that would put up with this.”
What the president didn’t say was the Australian government effectively banned and confiscated guns. This, of course, is what progressives want. But Obama doesn’t have the courage to say it because of the dire political consequences of actually going through with it.
