Last Tuesday, March 10th, Jews Can Shoot hosted a unique event at Martin B. Retting Inc. gun shop in Culver City. Beginning at 5 p.m., approximately 40 people – not all Jewish – arrived for a fun, educational, easy experience shopping for their first firearm.
The knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced Martin B. Retting staff – as well as Jews Can Shoot shooting instructors – were on hand exclusively to answer questions and guide the group to make the right self-defense choices. At 6 p.m. the shop even closed its doors to the general public in order to accommodate guests of Jews Can Shoot for an extra two hours.
The shop is spacious but the aisles were packed with shoppers getting the feel of, and advice about, a wide variety of different firearms. The atmosphere in the shop was electric with people having fun, chatting with the staff and each other, and learning about weapons and self-defense.
Approximately 10-12 guns were purchased that night, in addition to firearm accessories like concealable holsters. Martin B. Retting Inc. even threw in a free gun cleaning kit for everyone who purchased a gun. Even customers who didn’t buy went away with plenty of information to make an informed decision when they’re ready.
The most common feedback Jews Can Shoot received from the shoppers was how easy and fun we made an otherwise daunting experience. Bob Retting, the shop’s owner, was so pleased with the event and the customer response that he looks forward to doing it again. He believes the next one will be even better because word will spread about what a fun, comfortable experience Jews Can Shoot and the Retting staff made it to shop there.
Jews Can Shoot believes that in these dark and dangerous times, the best and most effective way to stand up for our 2nd Amendment right – for all our rights – is to arm and train ourselves in the defensive use of firearms, and to be prepared to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our property in an emergency.
Learning about firearms and shopping for them can be intimidating for the uninitiated. Our aim at Jews Can Shoot is to help inexperienced people make the right self-defense decisions, and to make the entire process – from shopping to shooting – easy, fun, educational, and most of all, empowering.
