At Jews Can Shoot, our mission is grounded in the belief that an armed and trained citizenry is the ultimate defense against tyranny. History, especially Jewish history, offers tragic lessons about what happens when citizens are disarmed by their own governments. That is why I, Doris Wise, founder of Jews Can Shoot, wholeheartedly support Congressman Eric Burlison’s efforts to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and dismantle unconstitutional infringements on our God-given rights.
The ATF has, for too long, operated as an unaccountable and politically weaponized agency, regulating and restricting the very rights that the Second Amendment was designed to protect. From its reclassification schemes—turning law-abiding citizens into criminals overnight—to its constant regulatory overreach, the ATF has demonstrated that it is not a neutral enforcer of law, but an active threat to freedom.
Rep. Burlison’s introduction of the Abolish the ATF Act (H.R. 221) is an act of courage and leadership. By calling for the complete dissolution of this rogue agency, Burlison acknowledges what many Americans, especially those of us who study history closely, have long known: an armed population is the last defense against authoritarianism, and any attempt to disarm or intimidate law-abiding citizens must be met with fierce resistance.
In addition, his introduction of H.R. 335, aimed at repealing the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934, further demonstrates a commitment to restoring the full spirit of the Second Amendment. The NFA was the beginning of the long, slow infringement upon the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Repealing it would be a vital step toward rolling back the decades of bureaucratic abuse that have punished responsible gun owners.
At Jews Can Shoot, we teach that “Never Again” means nothing without the tools and willingness to defend oneself. We cannot, and must not, outsource our protection to governments or agencies that have historically disarmed the vulnerable under the guise of “public safety.” Rep. Burlison’s actions are a direct challenge to that dangerous paradigm.
We are proud to stand with him. We call on all patriots, freedom-lovers, and defenders of human dignity to support his bills and to recognize the abolishment of the ATF as a critical step toward restoring the true meaning of the Second Amendment.
